I found a quote from Winston Churchill. It pertains to art, but it isn't what you would normally expect. I'm posting it and asking you to post a comment below. (Click on the word comment below. ) Read it, think about it. Then tell me if you agree or disagree. It states: "Without tradition, art is a flock of sheep without a shepherd. Without innovation, it is a corpse."
--Winston Churchill
What does it mean? What is he thinking?
I kind of agree. All artists look at each others' work and gain from that experience then go off and create something out of what they know. In everything they make they add something new.
ReplyDeleteStudying the past helps us build on what is already there. Adding new touches and new information keeps it fresh and interesting.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit I am horrible with understanding quotes.
ReplyDeleteIs he saying without tradition and without innovation, art would be nothing?
If that is the case, I would have to agree. However, artists are known to break the norm (tradition), so I am not sure about that part. But I do think art needs innovation.
