Hey guys!

Sorry I haven't been able to post anything for awhile but my computer is just NOT working with this site! So I for sure couldn't get any pictures up. This means everything will just have to be a surprise for everyone!

I always look at everyone else's work and feel veryyy discouraged with my own, but I really am putting a lot of time into my summer work! (I have to admit I have not done that the past 3 years). This year I am so siked! Can't wait to see you guys!!

ACCOMPLISHMENT!

It still has a long way to go, but this is my still life. It does mean, though, that I have at least started all of my art pieces! As soon as I get a certain something from my director, 2 of those 5 pieces will be done! I've also finished my summer reading already so I have the rest of the summer to focus on summer art work and summer music theory. How's everyone else doing?

O M G !!!

You go, Girl!! I REALLY like what I'm seeing! The landscape is really impressive. The perspective from which it is presented is very interesting. I love being able to look down into the canyon-like landscape. The scale of the house makes it even more impressive.
The faces are nice. The upper one is more interesting because your colors seem to be more purposeful and more confident. Also the perspetive of the upper is not straight-on and so holds your attention longer.
The self portrait is not well enough developed yet to be able to give you any useful feedback. But I am interested in seeing how this develops.
Way to go! You seem to be ahead of the curve.
OK Everyone! She has set the bar! Let's see what the rest of you are doing!!!
Here is one finished face and one not. I have more still to do but have been working on the projects that I'm going to actually turn in since it's starting to be crunch time.

Obviously my self portrait is still a work in progress... and a messy one! I think I'm most proud of this piece because it took me so long to figure out what exactly I was going to do.

Here's what I have so far of my landscape inspired by the movie "Up". I still have a lot of work to do, but making the hills took a lot of practice.

"Fixing" Your Work

If you are working in charcoal and don't have any fixative, here's what you should do:
When your piece is finished, put it in a place where it can lay undisturbed, like maybe on the floor under your bed and gently lay a piece of paper on top of it. (Use a blank piece of drawing paper or something similar, not a printed paper like newspaper.) Leave it there undisturbed until school starts. I know that means no dusting or vacuuming under the bed for a while, but I hope your mom will be OK with that just this once.
When school begins you have 2 options: You can either then place it carefully in your portfolio and bring it in to school for spraying, or you can borrow a can of fixative overnight to spray at home.
Then there's always the option of going to Michael's or Hobby Lobby and getting a can. That way you'll have some at home if you need it later. Either way is fine. I'm happy to loan it out if I get it back.
Glad to hear people are working!!

I love your movie inspiration! That's a great idea and your landscape is going to be fabulous! I want my self portrait to be a surprise but I'm doing it in ebony and chracoal and does anyone have suggestions on a good way to fix it without the spray we have at school?

Going shopping today for a wheel, feathers, a mini chair, mini cowboy boots, glass beads, a styrofoam ball, a mustache, and more for my self portrait. What could it be? Also, is anyone interested in coming to see me in Hairspray? If so, please tell me now so I can get you tickets because we're already 60% sold out! I'm also doing more of those really cool watercolor eyes. I had some of my friends that live near me do different expressions and I took pictures at different angles. Can't wait to see how it turns out!

Great Work!!

I love seeing a picture on here! Thank you for posting it. :-)
And I love that you have one of your assignments documented.
You Rock!!!
Now come on the rest of you... don't be so quiet.
Tell us what you're doing!!
It's really hot outside! Spend the day in the cool air conditioned comfort of an art museum! To make it even more interesting, take someone with you. Stand back and watch their reactions as well as the art. It's really fun!
